Letter of the Law, Reprise

The letter of the law

Says to write every day.

Whether or not I have anything to say.

Sometimes the previous day’s writing

Swirls still in my mind.

With no witty thoughts I come up blind.

So here I am fulfilling the obligation.

It is done for today and to sleep I go.

To dream I can but hope.
